Studio management software for private music teachers

Choose studio software around the work you need to do each week. An independent teacher may need scheduling, invoices, and family messages. A school with several teachers may also need class enrollment, staff access, payroll, and reporting.

We build StudioKit, so we have a stake in this comparison. The other options below cover different needs; try the workflows that matter to your studio before choosing. Check current plan details and payment fees with each provider before signing up.

Tools for independent teachers

StudioKit

StudioKit has scheduling, public booking, invoicing, online and manual payment records, messages, and session reminders. Teachers and families can use the web, iOS, and Android apps. The current offer is $10 per month with a 14-day trial and no per-student fee.

It's built for independent teachers. Group classes and multi-teacher invitations aren't available, so a school needing those features should compare the options below. You can send one-off invoices or schedule recurring invoices for flat tuition and other fixed charges. Automatic card collection isn't available.

Try StudioKit.

My Music Staff

My Music Staff includes scheduling, attendance, invoices, payments, expense tracking, teaching notes, and a student portal. Its published plan costs $16.95 per month for one teacher, plus $4.95 for each additional teacher or staff member.

If you need expense records, reports, or several staff accounts alongside teaching tools, include those workflows in your trial. If you're already using it successfully, weigh the work of moving your records before switching.

Fons

Fons focuses on scheduling and payments. If those are the jobs you need help with, try the client booking and payment flow and check how it handles cancellations and recurring appointments. Ask about any teaching notes or attendance records you need as well.

See Fons pricing for the current subscription and payment charges.

Duet Partner and DuetStudio

These are separate products with similar names. Duet Partner offers studio scheduling, billing, and communication. Check its subscription price and the transaction fees families pay before comparing the total cost.

DuetStudio has a free core plan and a paid Pro plan. Confirm which features belong to each tier, especially automatic invoicing and card payments. Don't assume a free plan advertised by one product applies to the other.

If you're looking for Music Teacher's Helper, confirm the current product and support arrangements with the provider before moving your records. Older reviews may describe an earlier service.

Tools for music schools

Opus1

Opus1 has scheduling, billing, communication, and additional tools for school operations. If you're managing several teachers or locations, ask for a demonstration using that setup. Check which communication and marketing features are included in the quoted plan.

Jackrabbit Music

Jackrabbit Music includes lesson and class scheduling, registration, billing, and reporting. It's an option to evaluate when group enrollment and school operations are part of the work. Ask for pricing based on your student count and any additional payment services.

Teachworks

Teachworks supports multi-teacher scheduling and billing. Its plans combine a monthly base fee with usage charges. Compare the total at your expected lesson volume, and try the staff schedules, online-session details, and reports you need.

AmpliTeach

AmpliTeach combines school management with sales and marketing tools. If enrollment follow-up is a recurring job for your school, ask to see an inquiry move through booking and enrollment. Check the plan cost and which tools your staff would actually use.

The Studio Director

The Studio Director supports class enrollment, billing, and reporting for studio businesses. Include it in your comparison if you run class-based programs, particularly a mix of music and dance. Confirm the price for your enrollment size on its pricing page.

Test a normal week before switching

During a trial or demonstration, schedule a recurring lesson, make a cancellation, create an invoice, and check what a family sees. If you have staff, repeat the important tasks with their access level. Check how records can be exported before committing your full roster.

Compare the subscription, payment processing, staff charges, and any paid add-ons. Then consider the work of setting up your schedule and moving existing records. A tool that fits your routine is easier to assess after those concrete tests than after another feature checklist.
